BATTLE MODES

A player can choose from NORMAL, TURBO or AUTO modes.

Manual type of blocking, normal gameplay speed
Game play at normal speed and you must manually block your opponents' attacks. Best for advanced players.
Manual type of blocking, faster gameplay speed
Game play at much faster speed and you must manually block your opponents' attacks. Best for expert players.
Automatic type of blocking, normal gameplay speed
In Auto Mode, your character automatically blocks any attack directed on him. However, all attacks will cause block damage, whether normal or special moves, when Autoblocked. On-screen game tips are also provided before and after matches, but the game ends after 3 stages. Best for first-time and novice players.

WHAT ARE INFINITY GEMS AND THE INFINITY GAUGE?

Each of the Super Heroes and Super Villains has his own quest towards attaining the six Infinity Gems, be it for Earth's common good or a personal agenda for global or galactic domination. These gems are color-coded and have different effects on the user. When activated, it creates an aura of energy around the user and shoves away any nearby opponent. A timer gauge appears below the character to show how much time the effect remains active before the gem shatters. Gems usually appear upon blows that score a FIRST ATTACK! and DANGER! Characters can also steal gems from their opponents through Special Attacks. Each character is also affiliated with a particular gem, gaining enhanced abilities upon activation of that gem. Check each character's profile to determine the gem that is best suited for their use.

GEMNAMECOLORENHANCEMENTS
POWERRedIncreases strength and amplifies attack damage.
SPACEPurpleIncreases defensive armor by reducing damage taken.
TIMEOrangeIncreases your character's speed and attack rate.
REALITYYellowEndows fantastic powers of fire, ice and lightning.

MINDBlueRecovers 2 levels of Infinity Combo Gauge energy.

INFINITY GAUGE

Each Super Hero and Super Villain have unique supernatural powers they can use in battle, allowing them to use certain special techniques. The amount of power currently available is measured in the Infinity Gauge below the Vitality Gauge. The amount of power you have depends largely on how many attacks are performed and the type of moves used. As you gain an Infinity Block, an aura appears and you can spend it for Infinity Counters or performing one of your character's Infinity Combos. In addition, each character can only have a certain maximum number of Infinity Blocks they can store.

The Infinity Gauge at maximum

With the gauge at Level 1 and above, use your stored energy
for Infinity Counters or Infinity Combos!

INFINITY COUNTER

When caught in an opponent's rush, an Infinity Counter reverts the opponent's attack with one of the character's preset Special Attack. This move drains 1 Infinity Block so timing is crucial. Infinity Counters are colored silver in the individual character movelists.

INFINITY COMBO

When your character amasses at least 1 Infinity Block, he or she can perform one of his or her Infinity Combos which can turn the tide of battle in your favor! Infinity Combos are colored gold in the individual character movelists.

BATTLE TIPS AND STRATEGIES

CREATE YOUR OWN COMBO!

Don't stop with just one hit! Each character can perform a basic combo by pressing the Light, Middle, and Hard attack buttons in quick succession. You can also perform combos in the air! When your character hits your opponent, attack again immediately!

PERFORM COUNTERATTACKS!

When you guard against an opponent's attack, cancel your guard by unleashing your own special attack. This stops a flurry from your opponent, turning a good defense into a good offense. The technique is difficult to master at first, but is invaluable once you get it down.

CHECK YOUR STATUS!

Make sure to keep an eye on the Face Panel. As you take damage, the panel changes from blue, yellow, and red. Fend off punches to recover from the damage, and make sure to protect yourself well when the panel turns red -- you're about to be knocked senseless!

Issues Fixed[edit]

Game doesn't recognize all inputs from XInput controller[edit]

Marvel Spider Man Pc Controls
Use AntiMicro to map unrecognized inputs to keyboard and mouse
  1. Replace the [KEYBOARD], [JOYSTICK], and [MOUSE] sections of <path-to-game>game.ini with the below:
  2. Set up AntiMicro with this profile.
  3. If you like, you can also set AntiMicro to use this profile when the game is run, as well as set AntiMicro to run on PC startup, both from AntiMicro's settings, if you want to automate the process for playing the game.

Notes

This should be a rough mapping of a standard XInput controller to the PS2 controls based on the locations of the inputs on the Xbox 360 controller and the PS2 controller (A->X, LT->L2, etc). The PS2 control scheme can be found here.
Because of differences in the PC version of the game, there are still a few significant differences in controls from console versions.
  • On PC the gamepad recenter camera control is always tied to the web action control (LT in this control scheme) like the 'classic' control scheme on consoles.
  • On PC, the yo-yo spidey move is LT+RB which maps to the 'enhanced' control scheme from the console versions.
  • The dodging moves do not work.

Spider Man Pc Game

Cutscenes are distorted[edit]

Use dgVoodoo2 and DxWnd
  1. Set up dgVoodoo2.
    1. Download dgVoodoo 2.
    2. Copy the DLL files from the MS/x86 folder to <path-to-game>, where SpiderMan.exe is located.
    3. Open dgVoodooCpl.exe. You may want to make a separate profile for the game (hit the Add button at the top of the window, and select the <path-to-game> folder, which you copied the DLL files into).
    4. Under the General tab, set the Appearance to Fullscreen and Scaling mode to Stretched, keep Aspect Ratio.
    5. Under the DirectX tab, set the Resolution to the resolution you intend to run the game with, and uncheck the 'dgVoodoo Watermark' option. You can also set the Filtering option here if you want to force anisotropic filtering.
    6. Click the OK button.
  2. Set up DxWnd.
    1. Download DxWnd.
    2. Run dxwnd.exe and go to Edit->Add, then in the Main tab, type in a Name, and for Path browse to and select <path-to-game>SpiderMan.exe.
    3. In the same Main tab, make sure under Generic, Fullscreen only is checked, and under Position, Desktop center is selected.
    4. In the Video tab, set Window style to default, Window size & position to Anchored, and Screen resolution to Native.
    5. Click the OK button.
  3. Now as long as DxWnd is running when you launch the game, the cutscenes should be visible and stretched to your screen, though they will still be stretched out if you have the game set to run in any aspect ratio besides 4:3.
  4. If you are using a 16:9 aspect ratio, you can download modified cutscene files that are stretched properly for 16:9 aspect ratios to watch the cutscenes in-game without any distortion.
    1. Go to <path-to-game> and make a backup of the movies folder.
    2. Download these modified .BIK files and place them in the movies folder (replacing the old files, which you should have backed up).

Notes

If you like, you can automate launching DxWnd on your PC's startup by placing a shortcut to dxwnd.exe in your Start Menu's Startup folder, and changing the shortcut's properties. In the Properties window of the shortcut, in the Shortcut tab, change Target by adding /T to the end of the text in the field. The resulting field should look something like '<path-to-DxWnd>dxwnd.exe' /T. The /T parameter launches DxWnd in the system tray.

Issues Unresolved[edit]

Crash/black screen with resolutions higher than 640x480 in Windows 10[edit]

If the game is set to a resolution higher than 640x480 in Windows 10, the game will attempt to change resolutions and might freeze on a black screen after the intro movies, when starting or loading a game, or even whenever you navigate through the menus to watch movies/cutscenes. The only solution so far is to play in 640x480. Unknown if there is a fix to play at higher resolutions.
Play in 640x480[citation needed]
Try using dgVoodoo2 and DxWnd[citation needed]

A possible workaround is to run the game using dgVoodoo2 and DxWnd. Follow the method for setup in Cutscenes are distorted.
